A voting system configuration has three main elements: the election management system, the precinct count system, and the central count system. Our WAN can be easily integrated with any electronic IP voting system.

VSAT Caribbean provides mission critical Telemetry solutions, for the monitoring and the management of data through satellite communications, with complete independence from public infrastructure, eliminating the common failures of terrestrial infrastructure: landlines such as T1's, DSL, Frame Relay, fiber optics, cellular phone (data) and wireless.

Traditionally SCADA communications has been Point-to-Multipoint serial communications over lease line or private radio systems (i.e. RS232, RS485, BEL202). With the advent of broadband,  IP Technology has seen increasing use in SCADA communications.

IP Technology Advantages in SCADA Applications
Web Server technology has enabled low cost web browser technology to be used as the MMI for PLC and SCADA systems. Newer PLC's and RTU's frequently incorporate web servers that allow diagnostics and monitoring function.  Web-enabled SCADA hosts enable users to remotely monitor, control remote sites via a web browser. 

Email messages are used for alarming or reporting. When an alarm occurs, alarm emails are sent out to email-enabled cell phones and PC's.

FTP can be used  to transfer files between Host and Remote sites for Data logging, Reporting or Configuration.

The Telnet remote access utility can be used to remotely configure RTU, PLC and other SCADA equipment.

The TCP protocol to ensure reliable End-to-End communication. TCP is typically used for applications like alarming where the information is critical and cannot be lost.

IP protocol enables data to be routed over the Satellite WAN to/from any SCADA remote device, in a star configuration.

The term SCADA defines a computer system used for gathering and analyzing real time data coming from industrial processes. SCADA systems are used to monitor and control a plant or equipment in industries such as water and waste control, energy, oil and gas refining, pulp and paper etc. While many of the tasks of a SCADA system do not need user interaction, some of them require the supervision or the actuation of a human operator. The operator's interface plays therefore a very important role in a SCADA system. All relevant information has to be shown to the operator in a clear and convenient way, conforming to current standards in process display graphics. This part of a SCADA system is commonly known as the HMI (Human Machine Interface) .
